Let me explain.
About a month ago (or whenever it was that I got sick in Mexico), I went to the wedding of a friend. I should tell you that the wedding was very fun, in spite of the mexican intestinal bug I brought back. It was one of the most amazing receptions ever, actually. Very beautiful.
In preparation for the wedding, I attended a bachelor weekend in Beckenridge, Colorado. Instead of strippers and limos, we opted instead for a house rental and a ski/snowboard weekend (and some shotgunning of beer). No one seemed to remember to bring a music source, so we tried to make the best of the lame vinyl collection available in the rental house.
On top of the pile was an album by "England Dan and John Ford Coley." They had several hits in the 70's and 80's, but the one that we couldn't stop singing was: "I'd really love to see you tonight." It's about the cheesiest song ever written, and it became our anthem for the weekend. You know how those things sometimes happen.
The groom decided to mail us each a copy of the CD as a thanks for making the trek out to Breckenridge. Funny. It inspired me to hatch a plan to learn the song with my friend, Mike Weaver, and buy costumes to match the part. We were going to sing it with the wedding band at the wedding.
We bailed on the idea at the last minute. We had moustaches and wigs, costumes and sheet music. We were really gonna do it. We thought it might be funny (60%) or it might tank (40%). We opted not to risk ruining the reception, and in a game time decision, we both quietly agreed not to do it. I still wonder if it was thw right call. Yeah, it probably was.
Luckily, there is photographic proof (sans moustache) above. I was born in the wrong era.

So, do blondes really have more fun, Nickerson?

Eff that! You should have gotten up there and rocked that shit, man. After all that prep work and knowing that people are a bunch of drunk asses at weddings anyway--you'd have made a memory worth talking about every time you saw your boy. But oh well--at least you go the pic and with this post it still became Legend-Light.

All you're missing (besides the 'stache) is a silver coke spoon.

I actually loved England Dan and John Ford Coley (it soooo dates me!!)and I know the song you are referring to - it was a big hit back then. Either I'm on a nasty nostalgic kick, or you look really hot. Probably the former....

ACT I.
"I'm not talkin' bout movin' in"
ACT II.
"But I don't wanna say good night"
ACT III.
"Cause there's a warm wind blowin'
the stars aroun' an' I really wanna
see you tonigh'"
I had a thing for England Dan and John Ford Coley when I was 6. I never knew we'd meet again like this. Thinking back now, I also had a thing for Sergio Mendes.
ACT IV.

Dude, Shane.. if you certify yourself on the internets as a minister, I will totally pay for your flight to my coast just so you can marry me and my boyfriend IN THAT COSTUME. Oh, and the 'stache would be mandatory.
If his family didn't think I was a godless weirdo already, I'd have you do it in a flaming falsetto. Limp wrists and all, baby.
It's the little things in life that bring light to my dull days at the office.

chuck- I'd say so.
Amy- It's complicated, but I can explain why there appears to be no March 8th posting:
My typepad preferences are set to show the time in PST (west coast time) when I make an entry, but when I made the "travelers" entry, I was in Florida. So TECHNICALLY, I made the entry at 1:07am on...
March 8. :)
Alice- I'm sure it's the latter. ;)
Nic- lol.
Denise- HAHAHa. I'm afraid I'd be a TERRIBLE minister.
