Hello old friends.
With my recent (albeit, ridiculously behind the curve) discovery of StumbleUpon, my interest in the internet seems to have been rekindled. I find myself surfing again with joy, reveling in the new discoveries that hundreds of other savvy geeks and dorks like me have tagged as interesting or noteworthy or funny or hot (I like the "artistic nudes." What a surprise. Random boobies still make me happy).
This newfound excitement for the glorious internet has inspired me to try to get back to blogging on a regular basis.
I can hear the tens of readers that still check in here regularly, scoffing:
"Bullshit, Nickerson. We've heard this before."
Indeed. It is a promise I have made and broken countless times.
For that reason, I'm going to post a new entry every day for 30 days, starting with this one. How long can I rest on the laurels of my shitty ice-fishing stories and heartfelt reflections on my youth?
No longer, I say! Adjust your wigs and newsreaders kids, and sit back and enjoy 30 straight days of entries...
As further proof that I am serious about this, here are ten eleven self-imposed rules I am adding to this little game:
1. No mention of blogging, or bemoaning this "damned thing I promised to do, so here's the friggin' post."
2. No link-only posts that say, "I found this at blahblahblah.com and you NEED to check it out!"
3. No mention of ham or cold cuts (just to be safe).
4. No more shit stories!
5. At least every third post will have photos.
6. Exciting news that has something to do with THIS.
7. As always, no ads.
8. Responses to interesting comments.
9. Seriously, how good is Heroes?
10. No less than 100 words.
11. If I fail to uphold my end of this challenge, I promise to shutter the doors of this stale little weblog forever.
Let's begin. Oh, and for the rest of you stagnant bloggers out there...

Good idea, Shane. I look forward to reading your posts. Maybe your challenge will kick-start me into getting my posting in gear! I'll see how it goes, anyhow. Definitely got some series to continue and stuff to write about.

Okay, I'm really fine with #4. Please include shit stories.

With only "tens" of people still reading your blog, It feels like a more exclusive place now. :-)
Looking forward to the 30.

Neat. And like xtx said, and as Magazine Man has proven often enough, there really isn't anything wrong with shit stories.
Oh, and god is Heroes ever hawesome.

I've checked out the archives so I'm glad you'll be posting more.
I'm intrigued about rule #3. I guess I haven't been reading long enough.

Good luck man. This is a really, really difficult task. But the most difficult tasks have the most reward.

#5 is a good rule. It's one I'd probably do well to adopt myself.
Does this post count as the first?
Good luck!

Seriously, Heroes is so good I'm practically sitting there crying from the beauty while I watch it.

If I had to write every day for 30 days, when my time was up I'd never want to blog again. DON'T DO THAT TO US.

Exciting! Looking forward to the next 30 days. :)
#11 makes me fidget uncomfortably...

30 in 30. That's a real task - but it's something I've been pretending I should do for a long time.
I might just try that - if for no other reason than to use that funky trackback feature!

YEAHHH!!! This is excellent news!
I'm going to make some popcorn for this...

Great news! - only ting that's really missing is a promise to do at least one Vlog during those 30 days.
Hey, stop calling me a bloody ingrate... I think it's only reasonable to wish for ONE Vlog from the King of Vlogs...

you're on nerd.

Sweet, brother. And weird - this morning, I was like, must check Nickerblog, I feel like there's going to be some bounty over there.
I'm so glad. Bring it!

Holy canoli. Sertich just told me that we were called out.
When does the 30 days have to start? ;-)

The Nickerblog begins anew; It's like being privy to the unraveling of The Holy Grail.
Go Nickerblog. GO!

Mk, Ill bite. Ill also adopt rules 1,2,5,6 and 10. Im not shutting down my blog, no matter that the readership is probably less than 5. Having said that, if I get any good comments, Ill be more than happy to post something about em.
Ive never seen an episode of Hero's, or much else on TVs Prime TIme for that matter. I work straight through it.
Either way Here we go!

I don't know that I qualify as much of a blogger...considering my blog has been inactive for almost a year, and even when I was writing it, I had an almost non-existant reader base...but I've decided to do this 30 in 30 anyway. I needed a reason to get back to blogging, this'll do it.

Cool
The rules are good, and I may just have to also do this excercize. I blog daily, but It could use a boost in the "less ham and Cheese" dept.
