Don't worry, I'm not leaving you forever. I just need to breathe. I need to not be tied to comments and e-mail and reading other blogs and wasting an unreasonable amount of time on what boils down to a giant timesuck. I need to get away for a little while to remember why I'm doing this and who I'm doing it for. I need to unplug and reboot. But don't think I won't miss you. (Except you Annie.)
There will be no guest bloggers, nor reruns, nor rehashed, warmed-over entries. This is a month long hiatus. I'm not only taking a break, I'm giving you a break from me! Think of the time you'll save! I can't SWEAR that there will be no entries for the next month, but that's the plan. We'll see how long I can last.
Why?
Because at a certain point, it gets tiring to wear your life on your blog.
I just need this break.
Happy Holidays to everyone! See you in '06.

Good for you! Have a good break, enjoy the holiday season, and we'll look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sad. I guess I'll just have to look forward to your triumphant return to my favorite blog on the internet.
Have an awesome time unplugging. Though I have no idea what that means... :)

"Because at a certain point, it gets tiring to wear your life on your blog"
Well put.
Can I steal that for my ever-changing blog tag line?
merry xmas!

Enjoy the hiatus. Happy holidays!
We'll miss you. Now as long as AJ, Wil, JSto and MM don't take a break at the same time, I can wait until January. I hope they don't get any ideas...

Enjoy the break but know that you'll be missed. You deserve some time off, and thanks for at least letting us know and not just leaving us hanging.
Rock on - see ya in 2006 (we hope)

Enjoy!! We'll miss ya!

What about the spring break Florida story?
Just kidding, enjoy the time off. I like how you made it clear with the graphic at the top.

You'll be back! You'll get the shakes and crumble like a shortbread cookie! ;)
Enjoy your December - you deserve it!

Geez you sound like Wheaton.

Happy Holidays, Shane! :)

Fine! Leave! Just leave I say! You think cutting off your cyber buddies to spend time drinking egg nog with "real people" and "family" is going to make your feel better!?!? Well, we didn't want your stinkin' vlogs anyways! You won't last two weeks! Go on! Get out of here!
*throws a feeble punch before collapsing on the cabin floor*
*Cue sunset. The soundtrack to "Shane" swells in the background. Nickerson trots off over the horizon, pausing to whicker before joining the herd of "people who see the sun".*
Enjoy the break. I hear there is a great big beautiful world out there.

Kate- Hahaha. Awesome.
Posted by: shane | 11/29/2005 at 09:20 PM
Does this mean I'm going to have to look in the mirror and pretend to be YOU doing my own VLOG to keep myself entertained?
Damn you. Damn you all to HELL!

Have a great Christmas in the 3 dimensional world, Shane! I look forward to hearing all about "Nickerblog Unplugged" in January. I bet you'll be dreaming about blogging in the meantime...

Good luck out there, man. Wear sunscreen. Report back.

Well, I won't miss you either Nicker McNickernerd!!

OK but, remember to:
1. Back away from the computer slowly. If it knows, it will prevent you from leaving.
2. Put on sunglasses, ball cap, long sleeve shirt, and sunscreen before leaving the house.
3. Totally enjoy family, friends, and real-life during the Holiday.
4. Realize you can just say NO to, vloggin', bloggin', webloggin' whenever you want; without patch, group therapy, or handcuffs. No withdrawal!
Best Wishes for the Holiday Season!

Have a great blog-break! I know I enjoyed taking Thanksgiving off, so I trust you'll enjoy living in "the real world" vs. online.
I chuckled, though, at the HUGE notice you plastered over your blog-banner. Yes, I guess there's no question you're ON HIATUS UNTIL JANUARY 2006. :-)

Lorianne-
It was intended to be slightly tongue-in-cheek.
Mostly, it's to remind MYSELF.
:-)

So I guess that leaves me free to go ahead and finish your Florida adventure for you over at my place? Hell, I might even answer your FAQs too. ;-)
Everyone needs a break and you sure deserve yours. Hope you and your family are well and have a peaceful holiday.
And personally, instead of the massive HIATUS sign, I would have loved to see the same Bhutan image above, but with you artfully deleted from it. Cos you'd be absent from the blog. Get it?
Nah, I guess the NOW! WITH HIATUS! sign works better.
Peace, brother,
MM

MM-
Done.

What's he saying about guest bloggers?
Posted by: Todd | 11/30/2005 at 10:10 PM
Shane,
I am going to miss you too! Of course we are off to Disney with the kiddies for a week! (Kill me now) Now you can spend time learning the Go! Diego Go! song. "Rescue pack, coming to the rescue!" It's catchy. Peace and Love to the family.

I like that you took MM's advice and deleted yourself. That was pretty clever. I'll miss you till you return, but enjoy your break...and LIFE.
Posted by: Shannon | 12/01/2005 at 11:07 PM
Oh that banner deletion is too fuckin' funny.
And,
Don't worry, people: While Nicky is gone I will hack his site and take over.
It will be way more awesome.
